The original house was built in 1968 by the architect Josep Lluís Sert and forms part of the Can Pep Simó housing development which he designed while still living at Harvard and which was to be his Mediterranean refuge at the end of his life. It is located next to the village of Jesús, on top of a hill overlooking the bay and the city of Ibiza. Declared an asset of cultural interest of the Balearic Islands in 2009, it has recently been restored respecting the original architecture while incorporating an annexed tower and a swimming pool that communicate with the house by means of a footbridge.
Given that the access road is behind the house, it is accessed from the upper part, where all the basic rooms are located on the same floor, bedroom and main bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and some rooms for domestic service, as well as a large terrace which is the fundamental element of the house, as in summer most of the activity is carried out in this space. The lower floor houses two bedrooms that share a bathroom and have access to another terrace, smaller in size and more organic in shape. The house maintains the original interior design and much of the furniture was designed by the architect especially for these spaces. The reproductions of the graphic work belong to the Josep Lluís Sert collection.
At one end of the plot three independent constructions sit on the sloping pine forest: a swimming pool in the form of a water container, stranded on the ground, a floating walkway connecting the bodies, and a square tower that emerges from the slope. This two-storey construction houses a bedroom, a bathroom and a partially underground storage room. It is an alternative to staying in the original house as it allows you to be in the pine forest, surrounded by pines and bushes, to move among the vegetation.
The surface of the plot is 1.350m2 and the house has 320m2 of usable surface and can accommodate up to 9 people (4 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom, with 4 complete bathrooms and 1 toilet). It has air conditioning, heating and alarm system. It also has three outdoor parking spaces at the entrance of the house. Located 5 minutes by car from the port of Marina Botafoch and 20 minutes from the airport by the ring road.
